Aubrey (AJ) Smith received his Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Georgia, where his Capstone Project studied the growing role and influence of Chief Diversity Officers in healthcare. He completed undergraduate studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Operations and Supply Chain Management) degree, a minor in Leadership Studies, and a certificate in Social and Personality Psychology.  

Before undertaking doctoral studies, AJ’s experiences in hospital administration at two leading pediatric academic medical centers solidified his research interests in organizational behavior and sociomedical science. Specific areas of interest include executive leadership; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; power and politics; organization structure and design; and minority health. As an adjunct instructor in an undergraduate Health Science Professions program, his passion for teaching and interest in health administration education developed.
