Bio

Katie McCall joined the department in August 2018 as the Executive Assistant to the Chair and Communications Coordinator. Since then, her responsibilities evolved and she now serves as the Manager of Career and Administrative Services. Prior to joining the VCU community, she worked as a high school social studies teacher and previous to that, she worked in nonprofit communications and donor relations for several years. Katie attended The College of William & Mary, where she earned a BA in History and Anthropology. Katie also holds an MAEd in Teaching and Curriculum Design from the W&M School of Education. 

Katie supports the Department in a variety of ways, including managing the administrative residency placement process, providing career services support to our Masters students, and supervising staff in the management of our academic programs. Connecting with our distinguished alumni community and supporting the development of our students are the most rewarding parts of her job.  

While Katie is originally from Chicago, IL (Go Cubs!), she has lived in the Richmond area since 2009. Katie, her husband, and a group of their dear friends also operate a local improv comedy theater, Coalition Theater, which opened its doors in 2013. Although you won’t likely catch her on stage, she supports the theater through involvement on the board of directors.
