Rong Yan most recently worked for an investment firm in China that supports the administrative management of hospitals and healthcare facilities through a public-private partnership model of consulting for six years. As an HRBP manager at the firm, she was employed most recently in leading HR project management for a new 1500-bed hospital with responsibilities over HR planning, policymaking, efficiency evaluation, budget cost analysis, and employee relations. 

She has a strong interest in healthcare financial management and performance management. She has previously taken the project management professional exam. She participated in an online academic project at Brown in 2020 about healthcare economics, which helped her better understand the American health care system and those around the world. In 2021, she completed an online healthcare project management course at Harvard T.H. Chan School. In addition, she published an article during the pandemic about how volume-based purchasing policies affect cardiologists' revenues.
