Naana Adjei
PhD HSOR Student
Naana Akua Anane Adjei earned a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and a master’s degree in public health with a specialization in health policy planning and management, both from the University of Ghana. She has a certificate in Applied Epidemiology and Public Health Surveillance from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Prior to her current position, she worked as a senior dietitian with the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services, providing clinical nutrition care, community interventions, and preceptorship. She also worked in the field of community health (nutrition education and advocacy, consultancy) and volunteered with various organizations.
Naana is passionate about leadership and has a wealth of experience in that regard. In 2018, she completed the Emerging Leaders Training Programme at the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) West Africa Regional Leadership Centre. She served as the general secretary of Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GAND), overseeing the administration of GAND, and ensuring the advancement of the nutrition and dietetics profession in Ghana. She completed the renowned Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship program at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2023.
Her research interests include exploring the interactions between food security and health, the role of food systems in population health, social determinants of nutrition and health, and the influence of healthcare organizational leadership practices on patient outcomes.
